How to choose: Waterproofing
Waterproofing is a pool's invisible insurance: it sits beneath the finish, but if it fails the whole finish comes off. Detailing — corners, movement joints, pipe penetrations — matters as much as the material itself. Done properly, it needs no intervention for the life of the pool.
- Ground movement
- Where settlement or vibration is expected, flexible cement-based systems are preferred.
- Detail points
- The great majority of leaks start at corners, joints and pipe penetrations, not open surfaces.
- Water chemistry
- Salt and thermal water call for a separate check of the material's chemical resistance.
- Testing and handover
- Never accept waterproofing without a full water-retention test before tiling.
