How to choose: Pool Lining Systems
The finish defines both the watertightness and the character of a pool. Ceramic, glass mosaic, natural stone and membrane options balance budget, maintenance and aesthetics differently. The finish must be chosen together with substrate preparation and grout; even the best material fails when applied badly.
- Usage intensity
- Hotel and commercial pools prioritise wear resistance; villa pools prioritise appearance.
- Water chemistry
- In salt-chlorinated or thermal water, chemical resistance becomes the deciding factor.
- Ground movement
- Where settlement is possible, a flexible membrane is safer than a rigid finish.
- Grout and waterproofing
- The waterproofing beneath the finish is as critical as the finish itself.
